Dorinda Perez, a clinical coordinator at the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Cardiac Rehab Center, was honored recently with the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge 2379 Community Service Award.

The award recognizes outstanding service organizations in our community. The hospital is one of the life-saving organizations that the Lodge honors along with the Sheriff’s Department, CHP, Los Angeles County Fire Department and others.

Since it opened three years ago, Henry Mayo’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Center has provided services to 275 patients and continues to expand its offerings to meet the growing needs of the Santa Clarita Valley and beyond. All three phases of cardiac rehab services – from inpatient education to outpatient monitoring and supervised exercise – are available at the center.

Henry Mayo held a Cardiac Rehabilitation Anniversary Celebration during National Heart Month in February. More than 100 past and current cardiac patients attended the special event at the Henry Mayo Center. They shared their experiences with other attendees including cardiac staff members and executive leaders from the hospital. Guests were treated to a healthy dinner and a short “fun” awards program recognizing cardiac rehab patients.

“This award speaks volumes about the significance of our work, our contribution to our community’s heart health, and the hospital’s commitment to provide exceptional service in a patient centered environment,” Perez said.
