NORTHRIDGE, CA – The CSUN men’s golf team posted team rounds of 303-302 Monday and is tied for fourth after two rounds of the Anteater Invitational at El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel.

The Matadors (605) head into Tuesday’s final round tied with Columbia as both teams are 15 shots off the lead set by UC Irvine (590). CSUN is just one shot behind third place Drexel (604) and 10 shots back of second place Long Beach State (595).

“The conditions were tough today but the team played pretty well,” said head coach Jim Bracken. “We certainly could have played better, we just continue to have trouble getting a decent fourth score.”

Tavit Garabedian is on the verge of his best finish of the season as the CSUN junior is currently fifth at three over 147. Garabedian opened with a two-over 74 in the morning round before posting a one-over 73 in the afternoon. He was second in the field with nine birdies on Monday and heads into the final round just three shots off the lead held by UC Irvine’s Jacob Schulze (144).

Felix Mory continued to play well Monday as the junior is tied for eighth at five-over 149. Mory opened with a three-over 75 before posting a consistent two-over 74 in round two. Outside of a double bogey on the par four 10th, Mory had two birdies, two bogeys and 13 pars.

“Felix continues to be consistently good for us and Tavit made quite a few birdies to put himself in contention tomorrow,” added Bracken. “I would love to close with a good round tomorrow and get in the top three and take some momentum into the final two tournaments before conference.”

Senior Tim Snyder is 27th through two rounds at 10-over 154 after posting rounds of 79-75, Luis Calderon is tied for 33rd at 13-over 157 (75-82) and Sam Engel is tied for 44th at 15-over 159 (79-80). Conrad White is again competing as an individual and is tied for 54th at 19-over 163 (79-84) after two rounds.

The Matadors will tee off the final round Tuesday morning at 8 a.m off the first tee.
