Traffic along Golden Valley Road Bridge at the State Route 14 freeway will be shifted from the south side of the existing bridge to the north side of the newly constructed side of the bridge on the morning of Wednesday, April 6, 2016.
One through lane and left-turning lane will remain open in each direction.
These changes will allow the city and contractors to begin a new phase of work in the Golden Valley Road Bridge widening project. The city has placed changeable message sign boards in the area to alert drivers of the coming traffic change and expected traffic delays. Traffic control devices, signage and flaggers will be placed to guide both westbound and eastbound traffic through the two-lane traffic controlled area.
In addition, next week three Golden Valley Park and Ride parking lots adjacent to the Golden Valley Road Bridge will be closed at different dates for repairs. At completion, the lots will have pot holes filled, resurfaced pavement and new striping.
Golden Valley Park and Ride Lot Closures
Lot 1 is adjacent to the southbound State Route 14 freeway. Lot 2 and 3 are adjacent to the northbound State Route 14 freeway off and on ramps (across from the McDonalds).
Monday, April 4 – Lot 2 closes for construction. Lot 1 is currently closed for repairs and Lot 3 remains open.
Tuesday, April 5 – Lot 1 opens. Lot 2 is closed and Lot 3 remains open.
Wednesday, April 6 – Lot 1 and 2 open. Lot 3 closes for construction until further notice.
Golden Valley Road Traffic Direction Changes
Wednesday, April 6 – Traffic direction changes (transition to the new traffic pattern begins late Tuesday night, April 5).
All work is weather permitting, and the traffic-pattern schedule is subject to change.
At completion, the Golden Valley Road Bridge widening project will add an additional two lanes of travel, one in each direction, for a total of six lanes on the bridge, including two through lanes, a dedicated left turn lane to access the southbound State Route 14 and two left turn lanes to access the northbound State Route 14. This project will also add a pedestrian walkway on the north side of the bridge and a bike path on the south side of the bridge.
