A news source in Bullhead City, Ariz., is reporting that a Canyon Country man who intended to land safely in the Colorado River when he jumped from a train bridge instead landed on a woman in a boat that was passing below.
According to the Bullhead City Bee, Kenneth Wenger, 20, of Canyon Country, was hospitalized in serious condition Saturday after he jumped from the popular spot outside of Topock, Ariz., and landed on Danielle Rose Kanizo, 24, of Oak Park, Calif. She, too, was transported to a hospital in serious condition.
Quoting Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Trish Carter, the Bee reported that Kanzio was a passenger in the boat and that the boat operator and other passengers “pulled Wenger from the water after he landed and then bounced into the water.” He was unconscious when he was pulled to safety.
No drugs or alcohol were found in Wenger’s system, the Bee reported.
The Bee shut down its print publication earlier this year but continues to publish news reports on social media outlets.

I’m very sorry for the woman being hurt. Also for the guy, but if it was my child that did that I’d be calling him every kind of stupid. A boat j791st doesn’t appear out of nowhere. The picture shows a pretty straight path.

@Bill Burns, I have a 20 year old son, and if he pulled a stunt like that he would most certainly be regretting it for some time when I caught up with him. (And when I ran out of breath his grandmother, his aunts and uncles, his sister, his cousins would all start on him.) Yes, young people do stupid things. But not usually THIS stupid. Trespassing on a train bridge, jumping into water that was occupied, jumping from a high place that is off limits…we DO have the right to condemn the action. I’m not condemning the lad, I hope he learns from his experience and I’m glad he has survived his foolish act. But his stupidity not only injured himself, it injured another person who was doing nothing wrong. Taxpayers footed the bill for the responders and likely are covering at least some of the medical expenses. Insurance companies have to pay for the results of his damn fool act and will pass the cost on to all of us. We, as society, have not only the right but the obligation to let others considering such an act know that this is not acceptable.

I’m sure it’s not the first time he’s pulled such a stunt, only this time he didn’t get away with the risk.
