SCV’s Alyson Felix ran a blistering 49.67 in the third semifinal of the Women’s 400 meter final, giving herself a shot at her fifth Olympic gold medal.
Felix is one of three Americans to qualify for the finals along with Natasha Hastings and Phyllis Francis.
Felix had the fastest time of any runner in the three semifinal heats.
Felix tore her right hamstring in the same event at the 2013 World Championships in Russia.

The Canyon Country resident has won six Olympic medals: four gold (200m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay twice) and two silver (200m) dating back to the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Felix will run in the final Monday at 6:45 p.m. local time in Rio.

Are you sure she didn’t qualify for the 400m with her 49.67. I’m pretty confident she runs the 200 in the low 20s and she isn’t running that race this Olympic games.
