The Master’s University women’s soccer team improved its 2016 record to 4-2-2 on Saturday after beating Marymount 1-0.
Notably, the Lady Mustangs are currently riding a three-match winning streak.
TMU posted its lone goal of the afternoon when Lynnae George scored off an assist from Whitney Gomillion at the 54:52 mark.
George posted four shots and two shots on goal, while Hailey Gomillion tallied three shots and one shot on goal.
TMU’s Jessica Zubia anchored the Lady Mustangs’ defense by grabbing seven saves. Zubia’s stellar goalkeeping helped secure TMU’s first shutout victory of the 2016 campaign.
“We continue to focus on playing one game at a time, and we are grateful to get another win,” commented head coach Curtis Lewis. “It is our first shutout victory of the season, which was really exciting. Our defense held up well under some late pressure and we came out with a win.”
The Lady Mustangs now look forward to Wednesday when they will play in their first home match of the 2016 campaign. At 4:00 p.m. TMU will square off against No. 10 Vanguard University on Reese Field.
