Trinity Classical Academy welcomes New York Times Best-Selling Author Stephen Mansfield as their next guest for its popular Distinguished Speaker Series. Mansfield, author of “More Than Dates and Dead People: Recovering a Christian View of History” and most recently “Ask the Question: Why We Must Demand Religious Clarity from Our Presidential Candidates,” is best known for his groundbreaking books on religion, history and contemporary culture. He will speak at the Trinity Classical Academy campus about “Recovering a Christian View of History” on Monday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. This evening is free for all attendees.

“Stephen Mansfield is a world-renown speaker and multiple award-winning author, having been invited to speak at some of the top universities in the U.S., as well as to the executive leaders of many of the leading corporations here and around the world,” said Liz Caddow, Founder and Head of School, Trinity Classical Academy. “It is a privilege and an honor to welcome Mr. Mansfield to our campus to speak with our students, faculty, staff, and the community, who will no doubt gain a new perspective of the current political landscape and insight on the potential outcomes.”

After spending much of his upbringing in Europe as the son of a United States Army officer, Mansfield moved back to the U.S. and earned two degrees from Oral Roberts University. Mansfield then moved to Texas where he completed two Masters Degrees, hosted a radio program, and began acquiring a reputation as a speaker of both depth and humor.

In early 1999, Mansfield moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he joined the leadership team of one of the nation’s top mega-churches. Over the next decade, he earned a doctorate, worked among the Kurds of Kurdistan, and advised numerous national leaders. He also launched the writing career for which he has become internationally known.

His first book, “Character and Greatness of Winston Churchill: Hero in a Time of Crisis” was a Gold Medallion Award Finalist. He also wrote widely acclaimed biographies of Booker T. Washington and George Whitefield, as well as a number of other highly regarded books about history and leadership. In 1997, the governor of Tennessee commissioned Mansfield to write “Volunteers: The History of Religion in Tennessee” for that state’s bicentennial.

In 2002, Mansfield left the pastorate and devoted himself fully to writing, speaking, and training leaders. Not long after, he wrote “The Faith of George W. Bush”, which landed on the New York Times bestseller list twice and won numerous national awards. The book was a source for Oliver Stone’s acclaimed film W, which chronicled Bush’s rise to the presidency.

This international bestseller led to a string of influential books over the following decade. Stephen wrote “The Faith of the American Soldier” after he was embedded with U.S. troops in Iraq in 2005. He also wrote about the ascent of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger to the papacy in “Benedict XVI: His Life and Mission”. His book “The Faith of Barack Obama” was another international bestseller and captured broad media attention both in the U.S. and around the world during the presidential race of 2008.

Eager to challenge American corporations to greater social good, Stephen wrote “The Search for God and Guinness” in 2009, which instantly placed him in demand as a speaker to business leaders. Since then he has continued his literary success with books about figures as diverse as Abraham Lincoln and Oprah Winfrey. His book “Killing Jesus,” is such a gritty, powerfully written retelling of the death of Jesus Christ that Publisher’s Weekly called it “masterful.”

In 2013, “Mansfield’s Book of Manly Men”— Stephen’s humorous but fiery call for men to become “Great Men” — became an inspiration for men’s events around the world. “The Miracle of the Kurds”, named “Book of the Year” by Rudaw, is a timely introduction to the Kurdish people that reached bookstores just as their troops began standing heroically against the evils of ISIS in the Middle East.

More recently, Mansfield released “Ask The Question: Why We Must Demand Religious Clarity From Our Presidential Candidates,” which came out just as the 2016 presidential race began to be permeated by deeply religious themes and tensions.

Out of Mansfield’s experience as an international speaker has come his devotion to training others in the art of public speaking. He remains a popular speaker whom also heads The Mansfield Group, a media, education and leadership coaching firm based out of Washington, D.C., working with top politicians, CEOs, rock stars, major publishing firms, and educational institutions around the world. Mansfield lives in Nashville and the nation’s capital with his wife Beverly, an award-winning songwriter and producer.

Since its inception, Trinity has been committed to extending educational opportunities and enriching the academic culture beyond the classroom and into the community. Trinity Classical Academy’s Speaker Series features leaders, pioneers and trailblazers in their fields whose life choices have influenced others and changed lives.
