1934 - Bouquet Canyon Reservoir, replacement for ill-fated St. Francis Dam & reservoir, begins to fill with water [story]
Bouquet Reservoir

Santa Clarita is one of the happiest places to live in the United States, according to a recent study conducted by WalletHub.

Ranking 12 out of 150 cities that were examined in the study, Santa Clarita and the rest of the cities were analyzed using what WalletHub describes as “key indicators of happiness.” These indicators included various meters, such as depression rate, income-growth rate and average leisure time spent per day.

Santa Clarita was one of many California cities which ranked in the top 20 of the study. It was behind Chula Vista and Washington D.C.

Just wait till the landfill get approval to make it the busiest in the nation. I can’t imagine the hundreds of additional smelly trash trucks coming up the 5 will have any negative impact on the valleys happiness.

  18. Mariana Cee Mariana Cee says:

Whoever took the survey obviously didn’t drive

  19. You guys are so. Lucky, but you can have the traffic.

  20. TRAVIS says:

It used to be a lot better when it had that nice small town feel. For me it all started coming to an end when the mall went in and all the nice mom and pop stores were pushed out. Traffic is up , crime is through the roof but the news reports its down. they need to stop building ,but I don’t see it happening. Give it 30 more years and it will be just like San Fernando valley.

  21. Bought here in 66, raised 3 kids, they got a good education, went on to college. 50 yrs later, in the same house(paid 23,500) retired, built 600k) equity in a caring neighborhood and lucky to be here, happy, healthy and safe.

  22. Claudia says:

It is better than some places in Los Angeles, and I like that the property value keeps going up. The constant construction of new homes without the infrastructure to support it, may change this at some point. The aggressive drivers in the big 4×4″s trying to run you off the road, because you are trying to stick to the 45 to 55 mph on most roads, makes it very hard to be happy!

  23. That moment you realize people complaining about scv being too populated or having crime/drug are the same people that moved here from the valley. Please feel free to go back at anytime. Unless you have lived here for 10+ years please stfu about scv…you don’t know squat.

  24. Wtf bs I just saw something about how it is unsafe and one of the most expensive and I know a lot of people out here who aren’t happy

  25. Eddy Franco says:

With the increasing drug rate? With the city pretty much being divided up by social classes? The racism that is still very much alive in this city? This is such a manipulated, cookie-cut, synthetic excuse for a “happy” place to live. Made for the rich, by the rich.
