Former College of the Canyons football and track & field student-athlete Tim White has signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League.

News of White’s signing started to spread on social media in the hours following the conclusion of the 2017 NFL Draft, with the Ravens wasting little time before inking White to a contract.

The speedy wide receiver was soon flooded with congratulatory messages from friends, family and coaches reminiscing about White’s accomplishments first at nearby Hart High School, then College of the Canyons and finally Arizona State University.

“Had such a great time as a #sundevil but it’s time too put that black and purple on and flip the page,” said White via his Twitter account on Saturday.

White hauled in 55 catches for 667 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 12.1 yards per catch for the Cougars in 2014. As COC’s primary kick returner that season, White also returned 29 kicks for 812 yards and a touchdown, including a long gain of 100 yards. He finished his sophomore season at COC with 1,554 all-purpose yards for the Cougars.

As a result White was named to the 2014 All-California Community College Football Team.

White also earned Southern California Football Association (SCFA) National Division, Northern League All-League team honors, earning a First Team offensive selection for his receiving skills and a First Team defensive selection for his prowess as a return specialist.

Also an accomplished track & field athlete, White was named the 2013 Western State Conference (WSC) Track & Field Athlete of the Year. That season, White also earned JC All-American status and won the USA Junior National Championship in the triple jump with a school record leap of 53 feet, 1 inch.

At ASU White established himself as on the most productive all-purpose players in school history. He finished his Sun Devil career with 113 receptions for 1,346 yards and 10 touchdowns in just two seasons. Along the way, White returned a kick 100-yards for a touchdown during his junior year, and followed that up by adding a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown as a senior. He compiled 3,381 all-purpose yards, finishing with an average of 135.2 per game.

White also competed for ASU’s track & field team, placing fourth in the triple jump at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track Championships with a mark of 54 feet, 4.5 inches. He later placed 18th at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials.

White joins Domata Peko (Denver Broncos), Jason Pierre-Paul (New York Giants) and Mychal Rivera (Jacksonville Jaguars) as former Cougars currently under contract with NFL teams.
