STOCKTON, Calif. – Roberto Ramos blasted a tiebreaking two-run home run in the eighth inning to lead the Lancaster JetHawks to a 6-3 win over the Stockton Ports on Friday night at Banner Island Ballpark.
Ramos came to the plate with the game tied, 2-2, and Yonathan Daza at first base after a leadoff walk. He hit a Nolan Blackwood (0-2) pitch over the right-centerfield wall for his third home run of the season.
Stockton (28-27) scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to cut the lead to one, but Brendan Rodgers delivered a two-run double in the top of the ninth to give Lancaster (30-25) insurance.
Rodgers finished 2-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to 12 games. The performance marked his ninth straight multi-hit game.
Salvador Justo pitched a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout to record his third save.
Marc Magliaro (1-1) picked up the win after being charged with a blown save. He allowed a game-tying run in the seventh inning. In total, he allowed two runs in two innings of relief.
Craig Schlitter recorded his ninth quality start in his 11th outing of the season. The right-hander allowed one unearned run over six innings with a season-high seven strikeouts.
Ramos started the JetHawks’ first rally in the fourth inning with a leadoff double. Sam Hilliard followed with a walk, and both players scored with two outs in the inning on a Scott Burcham single.
Ramos went 3-for-4 with two doubles and the home run in the game.
