The city of Santa Clarita and Southern California Edison will begin installing a total of 79 new streetlights along portions of Sierra Highway in mid-July, and along Bouquet Canyon Road beginning in August.
The updates are part of the city’s efforts to improve safety on the road for both motorists and pedestrians.
Southern California Edison will install new streetlights on the northbound and southbound portions of Sierra Highway, beginning at Soledad Canyon Road and extending north to the College of the Canyons campus exit.
The streetlights will be installed on a combination of existing and newly installed wood poles. Installation is expected to be completed by early September.
The new streetlights on Bouquet Canyon Road will be installed on the eastbound stretch from Festividad Drive to Centurion Way. Installation is expected to be completed this fall.
Construction will take place between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., when motorists may experience slight delays and occasional lane closures. Motorists are also asked to pay close attention to posted “No Parking” notices and reduce their speed through the construction zone.
For more information regarding these streetlight installations, contact Special Districts Manager Kevin Tonoian at ktonoian@santa-clarita.com or (661) 290-2210.

Thank you, this will help make these dark roads safer.
Great! The amber lights were a bad idea, a huge reduction in visibility from the bright lights of yesteryear.
Great! I keep hearing about pedestrians being hit. I hope this will help drivers see better.
Finally we live by Sierra Hwy and I hate driving in that Hwy at night, people don’t use crosswalks to cross the street they just run across making it dangerous for themselves and the drivers. Specially when they wear black while they are out jogging at night ?
There aren’t any crosswalks other than at American Beauty and at that light just before the college.
doesnt bring Paul Walker back
Paul Walker died because of mechanical failure at a high rate of speed on neither of these streets at 3:30 pm in the afternoon.
This will be good for everyone driving on Santa Clarita roads. Thank you to everyone who drives extra safe and is courteous out there. I really appreciate it.
How do the folks who live on Bouquet feel about that?
How about some sidewalks on Sierra Hwy? ??♀️

I think this is a wonderful idea but wish they would go further down Sierra Hwy. My husband was killed closer to Sand Canyon.
