Artist Randall Williams has completed painting a new 20-foot mural for the Domestic Violence Center’s Santa Clarita shelter, commissioned by Logix Federal Credit Union.

“Alethia (Calagias) from Logix came out to take a look at our space to see whether they could utilize a paint program to refresh the exterior of our shelter,” said Linda Davies, executive director of the Domestic Violence Center.

“She said, ‘Show me wall space – maybe the credit union can provide some art for the interior,’ and that’s when they hired Randall (Williams),” Davies said. “We’re so grateful to Logix; (the mural) brightened the space – it’s an image that will be appreciated by our staff and our clients.”

Williams looked for some images that would look attractive from up close and far away, as well as talked to staff and clients to get ideas.

“I wanted to create something that was uplifting and serene. The families that stay at the shelter are looking for a safe space,” Williams said. As I was painting, one of the young (clients) suggested a particular bird, and I was happy to include it – I really enjoyed the collaboration during the process.”

Williams completed the mural after two days of painting. He has decades of experience, which has given him the ability to work quickly and generate a quality that is uniquely extraordinary.

Logix has sponsored six murals in Santa Clarita and Burbank.

“We’ve been fortunate to work with Randall (Williams) on so many projects that have brought value to spaces at nonprofits and schools,” Logix Community Relations Specialist Alethia Calagias said. “We first started working with him when the city of Santa Clarita hosted the Street Art Festival. And, we’ll have Randall come out to do some live art demonstrations at a couple of Concerts in the Park this summer at Central Park in Saugus. Beautifying the communities we serve with art is a unique way that we can give back.”

Logix has four branches in Santa Clarita Valley – Golden Valley, Stevenson Ranch, Valencia Promenade and Valencia Bouquet Canyon. Branches are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, visit www.lfcu.com or call (800) 328-5328.
