Two people have been hospitalized with major injuries after a collision on San Francisquito Wednesday night.

San Francisquito Road was reduced to one lane for a couple of hours after a car traveling northbound, at a high-rate of speed, collided with a vehicle traveling the opposite direction, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., witnesses say the northbound driver, later identified as Carlos Ballardo, 28, from Lancaster, was driving recklessly at about 80 miles per hour. He allegedly crossed over double, solid, yellow lines and passed at least six to seven vehicles. Ballardo, driving a 2007 Chevy Cobalt, then approached a blind curve when he collided with a southbound car driven by Brian Zimmerman, 37, of Green Valley, according to CHP.

The CHP and Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene. Both drivers sustained major injuries and were transported to Henry Mayo Hospital. No other information was released.

People think it’s a race ? track. Something needs to be done it’s horrible how people drive this route. Maybe put in speed bumps all over the route.

I’ve driven this road for 30+ years. The only time and I mean only time I had a close call was due to I was a new driver and I was speeding through the cyn. If your don’t speed then your fine. You cant fix stupid and speeding down through the canyon is exactly that . STUPID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If some one knows the victim let me know or let him know I have a very good friend that would love to take that case and have that idiot driver pay for his reckless actions. I have cleaned up so many fatale up on that road.
