1934 - Bouquet Canyon Reservoir, replacement for ill-fated St. Francis Dam & reservoir, begins to fill with water [story]
Bouquet Reservoir

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger issued the following statement with respect to the Board of Supervisors’ approval today of motions concerning DACA, which included implementing a travel ban to the nine states that demanded the DACA program be phased out:

“I am supportive of the DACA program. Upon enactment of this program on June 15, 2012, President Obama stressed that DACA was intended to serve as ‘a temporary stopgap measure’ in anticipation of comprehensive immigration reform. Congress has had five years to act, and they have failed.

Los Angeles County seal“President Trump recently announced the phase out of the DACA program in an attempt to force Congress to act on immigration reform, now. Not phasing out DACA had the potential for an adverse ruling similar to the unconstitutionality of DAPA.

“The President has given Congress six months to do their job and immediately pass immigration reform legislation such as the DREAM ACT, bipartisan legislation that would create a legal process for young ‘Dreamers’ to earn lawful permanent residency.

“For far too long, our broken immigration system has plagued our communities and it’s time to stop the perpetual cycle of fear and inaction. We must be at the forefront of this issue through proactive participation and unite the county in our pursuit of comprehensive immigration reform, the real solution.”

The kids didn’t voluntarily break our laws. Give them amnesty . . . . When their parents voluntarily self-deport. Then we’ll see how much they really wanted a better life for their children.

  16. What is the issue? President Obama knew his action went beyond the law. President Trump simply turned the tables on a do nothing Congress (Dem and Rep), he placed the burden right back on them.
