From the Facebook Page of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station: Trip into Kern County by SCV Station Detectives leads to three arrests and the recovery of stolen property.
Eleven members of the SCV Station Detective Bureau and the Special Assignment Team, traveled to California City Wednesday to execute a search warrant. The search warrant was secured after an eight week investigation into the theft of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from Target and Walmart department stores.
Based on the investigation, one primary suspect was identified as being responsible for over 40 separate thefts in Los Angeles County, valued at over $21,000, including thefts in the SCV. He was also suspected of committing 20 additional thefts in Ventura and Kern Counties. The search warrant lead to the recovery of approximately $7,150 worth of merchandise.
Jerry Wayne Miller, 53, and Julie Miller, 53, were arrested on charges of grand theft. Additionally, Dylan Fritts, 26, was arrested for an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence. Bail is set for $100,000. All three suspects are from California City.
