The Saugus Union School District reports continued academic student growth in both Language Arts and Math on the annual 2016-17 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).
“The State of California uses eight priorities in the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) to ensure that all students are receiving a high quality education,” said Dr. Isa De Armas, Assistant Superintendent of Education Services. “One of those eight measures is academic achievement and clearly our district continues to make consistent growth.”
Annual Performance:
63% of our 3-6th Grade students met or exceeded standards in the area of Math. 51% of our students in grades 3-6 met or exceeded standards in the area of English Language Arts.
Annual Progress:
The results from CAASPP can be correlated year over year to show individual student growth and grade level cohort growth. For students who met or exceeded the standards, the data in Language Arts indicates a 2% decrease. In Math, the highest rate of growth was indicated at the sixth grade level (15%).
Subgroups:
Particular attention is paid to students who are not yet successful in meeting the standards overall as well as English Language Learners and the District’s economically disadvantaged students. The data demonstrates students in these groups are rapidly accelerating towards meeting or exceeding the standards.
“We are proud of our teachers, administrators and students for their diligence, their growth mindset, and their performance,” De Armas said.
Parents had an opportunity to review the test results during the September Parent /T eacher Goal Setting Conferences. A detailed report of scores can be found at http://caaspp.cde.ca.gov/.
