The city of Santa Clarita will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicate the new River Village Trailhead at Bouquet Canyon Road and Newhall Ranch Road on Thursday, November 30 at 10 a.m. The public is invited.
The trailhead connects visitors to the 11-mile long Santa Clara River Trail, which is the city’s main backbone trail along the Santa Clara River from Interstate 5 to Sand Canyon Road.
The new trailhead is the result of a partnered collaboration between the city, FivePoint and the Castaic Lake Water Agency.
The trailhead features a drinking fountain, bike rack, a bike fix-it station (created in partnership with the SCV Bicycle Coalition), four picnic tables, two benches and a water feature using river rocks from the nearby Santa Clara River.
The Castaic Lake Water Agency is constructing seven parking spaces, one handicapped-accessible parking space and two electric vehicle charging stations, scheduled to be open to the public by spring 2018.
The trailhead parking shares its entrance with the newly opened Starbucks coffee shop. Attendees should enter from the sidewalk entrance on Newhall Ranch Road.
Please RSVP by Monday, November 27 to Shenil Walker at swalker@santa-clarita.com or call 661-255-4939.
