NORTHRIDGE, Calif.— The CSUN Athletics Department is getting in the holiday spirit and will host a toy drive to support the Northridge Hospital Foundation, a Dignity Health Member. The toy drive begins with the CSUN Women’s Basketball game against Weber State on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
Fans that bring a new unwrapped toy to the games at the Matadome between Nov. 30 and Dec. 18 will receive two complimentary tickets to the game. Games featured during the toy drive include;
Thursday, Nov. 30 CSUN Women’s Basketball vs. Weber State 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 2 CSUN Women’s Basketball vs. Fresno State 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 9 CSUN Men’s Basketball vs. Loyola Marymount 7:00 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 18 CSUN Women’s Basketball vs. Northern Arizona 7:00 p.m.
“We are thrilled to host the Holiday Toy Drive in this season of gratitude and giving,” said CSUN Director of Athletics Dr. Brandon E. Martin. “We are proud to partner with Dignity Health in positively impacting youth in our local community.”
In addition to the Matadome toy drive, the CSUN Athletics Department will be a part of the “Helping Hands Holiday Jam” event for children on Friday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Northridge Hospital Medical Center (NHMC), in partnership with the Harold & Carol Pump Foundation has invited 350 children from the San Fernando Valley to celebrate the holidays with carnival games, arts and crafts, food and goodie bags to take home. For over 14 years the Holiday Jam has been the highlight for thousands of children from our local area elementary schools. The event provides a special day for kids to celebrate thanks to 100 volunteers from the NHMC and the community that donate their time and financial support to make the event a success.
The Matadors’ baseball team will join the volunteers to participate in this year’s event. All the participant’s and volunteers from this year’s Holiday Jam will receive complimentary tickets to the CSUN Men’s Basketball game on Dec. 9 vs. Loyola Marymount.
CSUN Athletics looks forward to this event as one of many with NHMC in support of their outreach initiatives between the campus, athletics and the community to promote healthy and active lifestyles.
