NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN’s Channon Fluker was named Madness National Mid-Major Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Dec. 11.
Fluker averaged 25.5 points and 14.5 rebounds in leading the Matadors to a pair of victories for the week ending Dec. 10. The 6-4 center scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in CSUN’s 76-59 victory over San José State Dec. 7. Against Loyola Marymount on Dec. 9, Fluker scored 26 points and tallied 13 rebounds. Her 26-point performance against the Lions moved her to 10th in school history in career points (1,147).
Fluker shot 63.3% from the field (19-of-30) during the week. She blocked a career high eight shots against LMU and made a career high three steals against the Lions. Fluker was also named Madness Big West Conference Player of the Week for her efforts.
Fluker was also selected Big West Conference Player of the Week by the conference Monday afternoon. It is the second consecutive week that Fluker has been named Big West Player of the Week and it is the ninth time in her career she earned the honor (the sixth most in conference history).
Fluker has recorded four consecutive double-doubles to bring her career total to 38 in 70 career appearances. CSUN is off this week as the Matadors are preparing to take Fall semester finals. CSUN returns to the court Monday, Dec. 18 when the Matadors (4-6) host Northern Arizona (3-5). Coverage on the CSUN Sports Network presented by Dignity Health is set for 7 p.m.
