Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are still looking for two men who allegedly stole a wallet from a woman shopping in a Santa Clarita Valley market, and has posted images from surveillance video seeking the public’s help to identify and locate them.
Here’s the story from the station’s social media account:
A woman was shopping in a local Santa Clarita Valley grocery store on November 3.She was approached by two suspects who used the “distraction technique.”
One of the male adults, described to be in his 20s, 5’8″-5’9″, with dark hair and wearing chino-style pants, came up to her and asked her how the salad bar worked.
The woman turned her back to her grocery cart (and her purse) and willingly helped the man by pointing out the containers, and all the items that can be put in the salad. He asked additional questions and kept her talking for about one minute.
After their conversation, the victim saw the man walk away without putting any salad in the container box.
When the victim got to the checkout stand, her wallet was gone! She noticed an empty salad container along with a shopping basket with food items in it — apparently abandoned near the checkout stand.
Within the hour, she received alerts from her credit card companies. The suspects had gone to several local stores and charged thousands of dollars on her credit cards.
Individuals using the credit cards were captured on video. If you know the identity of these two men or have any additional information, please call SCV Sheriff’s Deputy Brenda Cambra at 661-799-2315.
