1934 - Bouquet Canyon Reservoir, replacement for ill-fated St. Francis Dam & reservoir, begins to fill with water [story]
Bouquet Reservoir

Do you have what it takes to handle yourself in a survival situation?

Test your skills in the very first Bear Grylls Survival Challenge, set to take place Apr. 28 and 29, in Santa Clarita.

What: Bear Grylls Survival Challenge is the first-ever mass participation event to tackle the sport of survival where participants will apply mental, physical, instinctual, self-reliance and resourceful skills in controlled, competitive survival situations. Participants will compete on a four-mile, off-road journey that will take them through 18 unique survival scenario challenges across 240 acres at the Blue Cloud Movie Ranch. The course will run across five distinct environments: apocalyptic highway, cave complex, deserted village, mountain ascent/descent and snake infested swamp.

To gamify the Bear Grylls Survival Challenge, a proprietary algorithm has been developed to pair with RFID technology and provide a Bear Grylls Survival Score for each participant immediately upon completing the event. Additionally, a custom Bear Grylls Survival Pack that contains everyday items for application on the course will be provided to each participant.

Who: Bear Grylls, best known as the star of NBC’s hit adventure TV show Running Wild, will be onsite to cheer on participants. Folks of all fitness levels who want to put their skills to the test are welcome, however there are strenuous hills and running involved.

When: Identical, one-day adventures on Saturday, Apr. 28 and Sunday, Apr. 29

Where: Blue Cloud Movie Ranch – 20019 Blue Cloud Road, Santa Clarita, 91390

Tickets: Starting at $94.50 for participants age 18 and over. Group tickets and VIP packages are available at beargryllssurvivalchallenge.com. All participants receive a custom Bear Grylls survival backpack filled with items for use on the course.

More Information: beargryllssurvivalchallenge.com, @BearGryllsSurvivalChallenge on Instagram, @BGSChallenge on Twitter and www.facebook.com/beargryllssurvivalchallenge/ on Facebook.

Typical LA County. Approve 5000 houses in a small canyon far away from the freeways and built unsafe, high speed access roads with no shoulders and when they’re done, hand it over to the nearest city willing to take it. Yep, we got our money, you can have it now. Maybe Santa Clarita can do something about the roads.
