1930 - Telephone switchboard operator Louise Gipe, heroine of the 1928 St. Francis Dam disaster, tries & fails to kill herself over an unrequited love [story]
Louise Gipe

A driver lost control of her vehicle in the parking lot and crashed into the outdoor dining area at Stone Fire Grill on Cinema Drive in Valencia Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m., according to a Stone Fire Grill employee who did not wish to disclose his name.

Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 126 responded to the scene.

“(The car) crashed into the patio but fortunately didn’t go into the restaurant,” the restaurant employee said. No one was dining on the patio at the time, he said.

There were two people in the car, but no injuries, he said.

“They come into the restaurant often, about once a week,” he said.

“The driver is a 67-year-old woman who was parking her car and hit the gas instead of the brake,” said Lt. Leo Bauer of the SCV Sheriff’s Station.

“Our traffic investigator said she did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Bauer said. “It was just an accidental action by the lady.”

I like where your heads at . It seems no one is held accountable in this town unless they had booze or drugs in their system. I mean the least they could do is make her take a behind the wheel to see if she is what the state would call a valid driver. But no we just sweep up the glass and carry on like nothing happened.

      • Rob says:

You guys are acting like 67 is so old. The official age of retirement is 70! She will be held accountable. She will have to pay for damages and her insurance will likely go up. Accidents happen and there was nothing stated that she was being negligent. If this was a one time thing give the lady a break, she is probably embarrassed enough as it is..

  68. Roger says:

    Friendly tip:
Rarely a need to jam on the brake pedal when parking.
    A light touch is fine.
That way, if you accidentally hit the gas instead, you won’t go flying over curbs and into buildings.
