On Wednesday, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Office received a Coroner’s report related to a fatal traffic collision that occurred in Valencia on July 4, 2017.
On that date, around 12:10 a.m., a 34-year-old male driver was traveling northbound on McBean Parkway, near Decoro Drive, at a high rate of speed when his BMW hit a tree and careened into oncoming traffic.
The BMW went head-on into a Honda Accord driven by a 18-year-old male. Tragically, both men were pronounced dead at the scene, changing their families lives forever. The Coroner’s report listed the 34-year-old driver’s blood alcohol level at .12.
Every day, almost 29 people in the United States die in alcohol-impaired vehicle crashes. Driving after drinking is deadly. Yet it still continues to happen across the United States, and Santa Clarita Valley is no exception. If you drive while impaired, you could get arrested, or worse—be involved in a traffic crash that causes serious injury or death.
Being a responsible driver is simple – if you are drinking, do not drive.
Santa Clarita Sheriff’s deputies and CHP Newhall officers will remain proactive patrolling – and will do everything we can to get drunk drivers off the road.
We would like to continue our partnership with the community.
If you see an impaired driver on the road, call 911. Your actions could help save someone’s life and make the streets of the Santa Clarita Valley safer.

People should not drink and drive also in this area people drive so fast especially when school is letting I always wish police were there one day a innocent child will get killed
I don’t hear any residents up in arms about alcohol dealers.. oh I’m sorry I mean liqour store’s and late night bars being everywhere in SCV. Even though since I can remember dui is a major problem in SCV. Since there is nothing else to do in the dam town. Other than pills and drinking. Sad.
Who do we blame for 29 daily DUI deaths in the United States the vehicles or the drivers? I don’t hear anyone demanding that cars be banned. Let’s put blame where it belongs not on objects used in the deaths. Two young men died as a result of human error. This applies in all cases that involve human judgement.
Uber it. So many other options these days. ?
