1962 - SCV residents vote to connect to State Water Project, creating Castaic Lake Water Agency (now part of SCV Water) [story]

The Los Angeles County District Attorney has charged three suspects with multiple felonies related to a series of recent robberies in the SCV, according to officials.

The story from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s social media follows:

“Last week, deputies arrested suspects in Castaic after they were sought in connection to a crime reported earlier in the evening at the Westfield Valencia mall – an adult male acquaintance was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot.

“Through an extensive investigation, SCV Sheriff’s Station detectives were able to link the suspects to two other robberies that were previously reported in the SCV. The victim(s) in all of the cases were acquaintances of the suspects.

“In a Saugus robbery that occurred on Feb. 16, the suspects took iPhones and other personal items from two victims.

“On March 2, three suspects armed with a handgun and hammer robbed four victims in Newhall of their personal belongings.

“On Thursday, March 8, the District Attorney’s office filed seven felonies against suspect Reymundo Gutierrez-Mora, age 20: five counts of robbery, one count attempted robbery and one count assault with a deadly weapon.

“Suspect James Vega, 22, faces four felonies: two counts robbery, one count attempted robbery and one count assault with a deadly weapon.

“On Saturday, a third suspect wanted for robbery, Hugo Gutierrez-Mora, 21, turned himself in at the SCV Sheriff’s Station.

“All of the suspects were from the SCV.

“We are glad these individuals are off the street and can no longer victimize others.”

    Great work detectives!

  2. Nice to know they are in jail. To bad the state will let them out in a couple weeks.

  3. Dan says:

Sounds like 20 years in the pen would be fair for these three. The good people of SCV will be lucky if they get three years.

  4. SCVTeam says:

Most populated state in the country and growing…. We won’t miss you if you leave

  5. jeanne says:

Wait, “The victim(s) in all of the cases were acquaintances of the suspects.” So how was “extensive” investigation needed if the suspects were known to the victims? Maybe I gave Kudos too soon.
I am glad they were caught but if I know who robbed me and tell the authorities who it was then there is not much “investigation” needed.

Unless this story SHOULD have included something about the robbers using hoods or something.

  6. jeanne says:

Stephanie Santos, that was a really racist comment.

I am a Republican and want to see the wall built to insure the safety of our community from floods of people coming over, drugs, gangs, terrorists, etc.

Your comment about Deporting these individuals based on their names, that for all you know were born here (and whose families might have been here for longer than we have been a nation) is assuming facts not in evidence and makes an ASS out of you.

You also smear the rest of us who are hoping to get the wall built and out of control immigration slowed down. You give fuel to those who call us racists and undermine the efforts to protect our country. Please stop it.

  7. Pretty bold to rob people you know.

  9. Great job deputies! Thank you. God bless you.

  10. Interesting that they are all Hispanic! Are they “dreamer”illegals and will they ICE be notified?

  11. jeanne says:

Interesting that your last name is an Italian name Vercelli. Are you a member of the Mafia? That was a stupid comment wasn’t it? I think we should stop using a broad brush when looking at each other.

I am for border WALL, decreased immigration but abhor the lack of respect shown for each other on all sides.
