Due to updated weather conditions and a projected decrease in the amount of rainfall expected, the mandatory evacuations for Kagel Canyon, Lopez Canyon, and Little Tujunga, which were to be in effect at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, were cancelled.
However, due to debris flows that have occurred in the La Tuna Canyon area, the mandatory evacuations from the 8300 block to the 9000 block of La Tuna Canyon remain in place. All voluntary evacuations in the La Tuna Canyon burn area also remain in effect.
Additionally, La Tuna Canyon is closed from the 8300 block to the 210 Freeway.
The Evacuation Shelters at Sylmar Recreation Center and Sun Valley Recreation Center remain open. For those individuals in the Skirball Fire burn area who choose to voluntarily evacuate, the Evacuation Center at Westwood Recreation Center will also remain open.
Your Public Safety agencies encourage residents in the affected areas to take necessary steps to protect themselves from injury and their property from storm damage.
Please monitor local news outlets, social media, and www.lacounty.gov/larain for updated information and a list of street closures as they occur, and follow #LARain.
