Original post 12:47 p.m.: Firefighters are responding to a 1-acre brush fire in Newhall that started after 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, according to officials at the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire was reported off North Sierra Highway and Highway 14 in Newhall.
“We received a call at 12:11 p.m. of a 1-acre brush fire,” said Vanessa Lozano, spokesperson for LaCoFD. “We were on the scene by 12:18 p.m.”
Heavy smoke was showing and the fire is still at 1-acre, Lozano said.
Los Angeles City Fire, as well as one copter from Los Angeles County Air Operations, are assisting.
There are currently no reports of any injuries or structures threatened.

How did this start? We had very high humidity yesterday and the temps were not that bad. Do we have an arsonist in town? A really lot of fires have started in the general vicinity of this area in the last couple years.
