Suspect Arrested After Attempted Kidnapping in Valencia

George Michael Starr, 60, was arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies Monday afternoon and charged with attempted kidnapping of a 2-year-old girl in Valencia, according to station officials.

Here’s the update from the station at 4:36 p.m. Monday:

“On Monday, September 17, 2018, at approximately 11 a.m., (the) Santa Clarita (Valley Sheriff’s) station received an emergency call regarding an attempt(ed) kidnapping at the 27000 block of McBean Parkway in the city of Valencia.

“Deputies responded to the location and determined the victim (a female 2-year-old) was walking with her mother along a storefront when a male white attempted to grab her.

“As the suspect attempted to grab the victim, the mother was able to pick her up and notify law enforcement of the incident.

“The suspect fled the location prior to the arrival of deputies.

“Deputies who arrived first on the scene obtained the suspect’s physical and vehicle description and notified assisting units.

“As deputies searched the area, they located the suspect in the vicinity of 24200 Valencia (Blvd.) and detained him without further incident.

“The suspect, 60-year-old George Michael Starr, was arrested for attempted kidnapping and transported to Santa Clarita (Valley) Sheriff’s station for booking. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

“The victim was not injured.

“As this is an active investigation, the mug shot photograph of the suspect will not be made available.

“There is no further information available.”
