Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested a man and woman from Bakersfield on multiple drug and identity theft charges in Newhall early Saturday morning.
Here’s the story from the station’s social media:
“An early morning traffic stop in Newhall Saturday led to the arrest of two Bakersfield adults who were found to be in possession of a large quantity of mail and personal identifying property that didn’t belong to them.
“On Dec. 15, around 1:45 a.m., a deputy patrolling on Railroad Avenue spotted a vehicle without any license plates. A traffic stop was conducted for the violation.
“The deputy learned that the driver and passenger were from the Bakersfield area. The deputy observed a large quantity of mail in the rear seat of the vehicle, as well as on the passenger floorboard. The mail was not addressed to either of the occupants.
“The deputy found credit cards, driver’s licenses, passports and checks that did not belong to them. The two were also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia.
“Robert Phinney, 36, and Kammi Sargent, 49, of Bakersfield were arrested on multiple charges and transported and booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s (Station) jail.”
