The city of Santa Clarita, in partnership with the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee, has installed a new EVConnect electric vehicle charging station at the Santa Clarita Metrolink Station in an ongoing effort to provide green transportation alternatives to residents.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled at the station entrance plaza off Soledad Canyon Road in Saugus at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24.
This new charging station, accessible through a membership with the EVConnect application, can charge two vehicles at a time and is the eighth public charging station to be installed in the City.
As part of the Santa Clarita 2020 Strategic Plan under the theme of Sustaining Public Infrastructure, city staff continues to work on securing funding and locations for more public electric vehicle charging stations.
The city has installed or assisted with charging stations in other public locations, including Canyon Country Plaza and Bridgeport Marketplace, and continues to research grant funding to install additional stations throughout Santa Clarita.
