Washington, DC – Congresswoman Katie Hill (D-Santa Clarita) will serve on House Armed Services Committee, per this week’s announcement from the Speaker’s Office.
“Our district has more veterans per capita than almost anywhere across America, and our region is home to mission-critical defense and aerospace bases, facilities, and businesses,” Hill said in a statement Wednesday.
“The work of my constituents does more than support our local economy—it secures our nation and our world,” she said. “The Armed Services Committee was my top priority assignment because our district deserves a seat at the table in shaping smart and strategic national security policies, and because our servicemembers, veterans and their families at home deserve an unwavering voice in Washington. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring our community’s priorities to Congress and advocate for us at the highest level.”
Hill is one of 16 freshmen members of the House to serve on HASC and awaits further Committee assignments.
She represents California’s 25th district, which includes the communities of the Antelope, Simi, and Santa Clarita valleys.
