City of Santa Clarita officials have postponed the Newhall Ranch Road Bridge Widening Project ribbon-cutting dedication ceremony scheduled for Friday morning, Jan. 18, due to work delay caused by the recent rainstorm impacting the region.
However, all lanes of traffic are now open – offering the widened capacity of four lanes in each direction.
A rescheduled date will be announced soon.
Finishing details for the bridge have been delayed due to the inclement weather – such as road grinding and striping of the lanes. Weather permitting, these items will be completed by the end of next week.
The multi-million dollar project expanded the bridge to provide an additional traffic lane in each direction – increasing the number of lanes in each direction to four.
In addition to improving trail connections with a new undercrossing trail in the west bank, the project also added a raised median and a new protected sidewalk and bike path on the south side of the bridge.
The Newhall Ranch Road Bridge Widening Project is a federally funded project and is part of the Building and Creating Community theme in the Santa Clarita 2020 plan.
