The outdated yellow and blue lockers have been torn out, and the walls have been taken down to studs in preparation for a locker room modernization at Castaic Middle School.
The CMS locker room is part of a districtwide modernization plan made possible by funds from Measure QS.
In 2012 Castaic residents approved bond Measure QS, a general obligation bond intended to modernize Castaic school facilities for students and teachers.
“We have outgrown our current locker room,” said CMS Principal Bob Brauneisen. “The bond funding allows us to build something that suits our current student body and will last for years to come, benefiting future students a well.”
Other projects covered by this bond include:
· Smartboards and wireless updates for classrooms at all CUSD campuses
· New heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system at Castaic Elementary and Castaic Middle School
· New restroom facilities at Castaic Elementary and Northlake Hills Elementary
· Parking lot improvements for all campuses
“On behalf of our students and staff, thank you Castaic!” said Castaic Union School District Superintendent Steven Doyle. “Measure QS is helping our district create modern campuses for future Castaic students.”
