The Santa Clarita City Council will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, March 26, starting at 6 p.m.
Items on the agenda include amending norms and procedures for City Council meetings and related functions to include modified Rosenberg’s Rules of Order.
The full Regular Meeting agenda can be viewed here.
The Regular Meeting will be preceded at 5:30 p.m. by a Special Meeting in closed session with legal counsel to discuss pending litigation.
In the case of John Doe vs. City of Santa Clarita, “This action challenges the entirety of Title 11, Chapter 11.74 of the Santa Clarita Municipal Code, which constitutes residency restrictions for registered sex offenders (“Registrants”) (hereinafter, “the Ordinance”) because, on its face and as applied, the Ordinance is preempted by California state law, and violates the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, as well as the due process and equal protection guarantees of the California Constitution,” according to Los Angeles Superior Court records.
The Special Meeting agenda can be found here.
Both meetings will take place in City Council Chambers at City Hall, 23920 Valencia Blvd., Santa Clarita 91355.
The City Council’s Legislative Committee will meet in the Century Room at City Hall at 4 p.m.
The panel’s agenda includes discussion of accessory dwelling units, regulations on cannabis delivery, and the House and Senate versions of the proposed Rim of the Valley Corridor Preservation Act.
