Slots for foursomes, solo golfers and sponsors are still available for the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley’s inaugural amateur golf tournament, the Santa Clarita Valley Championship, set for the Sand Canyon Country Club on Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28.
The tournament is open to all golfers who want to compete for the title of Best Amateur Golfer in the SCV.
The title sponsors are IHOP of Saugus and Canyon Country and Learn4Life.
One of California’s premier golf destinations, the Sand Canyon golf course is nestled at the base of the Angeles National Forest offering breathtaking views of the SCV.
Golfers will complete 36-holes of scratch play golf. One round on Saturday at 9 a.m. and one on Sunday at 11 a.m. Both days are shotgun starts.
“This is the chance for all those players who have been telling their friends they shot two-under-par over the weekend and everyone who has been bragging that they are the best at their club to come out and show everybody what they’ve got,” said Mark Kagaoan, golf director at Sand Canyon Country Club.
The entry fee includes two rounds of golf, a golf cart, green fees, snacks, water, tee prizes and dinner at the Awards Banquet on Sunday following completion of the tournament.
Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place golfers.
Spectators are welcome both days.
Award banquet dinner tickets may be purchased for spectators for $45 (please purchase in advance).
Proceeds from the tournament will support after-school programs for at-risk youth in the SCV.
