All-Star outfielder Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers has been voted April’s National League Player of the Month, and shortstop Tim Anderson of the Chicago White Sox has been named the American League Player of the Month.

Bellinger earned his first career NL Player of the Month Award, and his third monthly award overall, following a pair of Rookie of the Month Awards during his NL Rookie of the Year-winning 2017 campaign (May & June).

Bellinger is the first Dodgers player to take home Player of the Month honors since Adrián González for April 2015.

Anderson claimed his first career AL Player of the Month Award and the first for the White Sox since his teammate José Abreu for July 2014 during his AL Rookie of the Year-winning season.

Cody Bellinger, Los Angeles Dodgers (@cody_bellinger)
• Posted a slash line of .431/.508/.890 with 32 runs scored, 47 hits, six doubles, a triple, 14 home runs, 37 RBI, 19 walks and five stolen bases over 31 games played. Reached base safely in 30-of-31 contests.
• Finished his historic month first among Major Leaguers in runs scored, hits, RBI, batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, while matching All-Star Christian Yelich for the lead in home
runs.
• His .431 batting average through the Dodgers’ first 32 games was third-most by a player who clubbed at least 10 home runs in Major League history, trailing only Hall of Famers Hank Aaron (.462, 11 HR in 1959)
and Jimmie Foxx (.445, 13 HR in 1932). His 37 RBI before May 1st were the most in MLB history.
• With a first-inning home run on April 26th, notched his 88th total base on the season, establishing a new Major League record before May. Finished his incredible start to the 2019 campaign with 97 total bases before the calendar flipped to May.

Tim Anderson, Chicago White Sox (@timanderson7)
• Batted .375 (36-for-96) with 21 runs scored, five doubles, six home runs, 18 RBI, 10 stolen bases and a .615 slugging percentage across 23 games played.
• His .375 batting average was the fourth-highest mark by a White Sox player in March/April since 1981, trailing only Juan Uribe (.393 in 2004), Paul Konerko (.383 in 2012) and Hall of Famer Frank Thomas (.379 in 1996). His .480 batting average at home was the highest home average for March/April in franchise history.
• Began the 2019 campaign with a 10-game hitting streak, the third-longest streak to begin a season for the White Sox in team history, trailing Alexei Ramirez (17 in 2014), Thomas (15 in 1996) and Lance Johnson (14 in 1993). Batted .488 (20-for-41) with eight runs scored, two doubles and two home runs during his torrid start.
Became the first player in franchise history to bat .375-or-better with at least six home runs and 10 stolen bases during a month, and the sixth different player in MLB history, joining Brian Roberts (April 2005), Eric Davis (July 1986), Hall of Famers Rickey Henderson (June 1985) and Joe Morgan (August 1976 & June 1975), and Max Carey (July 1922).

Reigning 2018 NL MVP Christian Yelich (.353, 26 R, 14 HR, 34 RBI) of the Milwaukee Brewers also received votes for NL Player of the Month. Yelich, alongside Bellinger, matched Albert Pujols (2006) and Alex Rodriguez for the most home runs prior to May 1 in Major league history. His 14 round-trippers were the most in franchise history for any month, eclipsing the record previously held by Prince Fielder, who clubbed 13 homers in May 2007.

Others receiving votes for AL Player of the Month included first baseman Luke Voit (.275, 21 R, 8 HR, 25 RBI) of the New York Yankees; All-Star outfielder Mike Trout (19 R, 11 XBH, 16 RBI, .487 OBP) of the Los Angeles Angels; outfielder Eddie Rosario (20 R, 11 HR, 24 RBI, .600 SLG) of the Minnesota Twins; shortstop Elvis Andrus (.361, 19 R, 13 XBH, 10 SB) and outfielder Joey Gallo (20 R, 10HR, 25 RBI, .678 SLG) of the Texas Rangers; first baseman Hunter Dozier (.349, 13 XBH, 17 RBI, 15 BB) of the Kansas City Royals; outfielder Michael Brantley (.331, 17 R, 7 2B, 5 HR) of the Houston Astros; outfielder Trey Mancini (.355, 23 R, 11 2B, 6 HR) of the Baltimore Orioles; second baseman Yoán Moncada (.314, 22 R, 14 XBH, 20 RBI) of the White Sox; and outfielder Domingo Santana (.292, 16 R, 13 XBH, 30 RBI) of the Seattle Mariners.
