The Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation has been named the inaugural winner of the Saugus Union School District’s Dr. Joan Lucid Award for Leadership and Service.
The award was one of the many highlights of the annual District Awards Night, held this year at West Creek Academy on May 14.
Honoring Dr. Lucid, who retired in June of 2018, after nearly four decades as an educator/administrator in the Saugus District, the award is given to an individual or group that has made a significant contribution to the learning and development of students in the district.
“Dr. Lucid established a tremendous legacy of leadership and service in SUSD,” said Dr. Colleen Hawkins, SUSSd Superintendent. “It is only appropriate that we recognize her work and honor those who continue it.”
The Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation promotes innovation and excellence in education through community engagement and investment opportunities in our fifty-four public K-12 schools. Through programs like Bag of Books, Teacher Tribute and Principal for a Day, the organization is able to give scholarships and grants to students and teachers across the SCV.
The Saugus Union School District is proud to honor its dedicated teachers.
