Bridge to Home, the primary homeless services provider in the Santa Clarita Valley, raised $133,000 at its premier annual fundraiser, “Soup for the Soul – Sera in Italia,” held Saturday, October 12, at the beautiful Bella Vida senior center in Santa Clarita.
Despite a chaotic 24 hours leading up to the event due to the Saddleridge fire, the lovely “Evening in Italy” was enjoyed by more than 300 guests on the charming patio at Bella Vida, illuminated by string lights.
Guests enjoyed fresh hors d’oeuvres to start an evening of delicious soups, craft brews, fine wines and decadent desserts.
The fantastic food added to the warm and inviting feel of the evening and Bridge to Home organizers expressed their appreciation for the amazing local restaurants that contributed to the success of the event.
The event’s host, former KCBS and KTTV news anchor Rick Garcia, welcomed Premier Sponsors Stay Green and Sand Canyon Resort, community members and dignitaries in attendance and shared Bridge to Home’s important mission of providing resources to those experiencing homelessness in our community.
Guests viewed a video presentation from Los Angeles County 5th District Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who shared her commitment to helping those experiencing homelessness.
Executive Director Mike Foley shared updates on the future of Bridge to Home, now that the facility is open year-round, providing resources and shelter 365 days a year. He also discussed the plans for the permanent facility that is currently being designed for the Drayton Street location.
Guests were surprised by a video message from Major League Baseball legend and Dodgers great Orel Hershiser, who encouraged attendees to bid on items in the live auction – including his very own autographed jersey.
The exciting did not disappoint, with the event generating more than $133,000 in donations.
All proceeds from the event are contributing to close the gap between the public funds received, and the cost of expanding to a 60-bed year-round permanent shelter.
Bella Vida provided a beautiful backdrop for “Soup for the Soul — Sera in Italia,” whisking guests away to a beautiful evening in Italy right here in Santa Clarita.
Bridge to Home would like to extend our gratitude to Kevin MacDonald and the entire Bella Vida team for their support.
