Four men reportedly threatened movie-goers in an Edwards Valencia theater Saturday night, saying they were going to “shoot this place up,” but there were no injuries or arrests, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.

“I was inside the movie theater with my friends,” said Rebecca Carrasco, a Baldwin Park resident visiting friends in Valencia. “It happened in Theater 10 during the 10:40 p.m. showing of ‘Game Night.’ The four men kept going in and out of our movie theater. At some point, one of the men sat in our row.

“At 11:40, a Hispanic man went in front of the movie screen waving his hand in the air and shouted, ‘Everyone needs to get down or get out before I shoot this place up!’ Carrasco said. “Everyone in the movie theater ducked to the ground and ran out of the emergency exit when the four men disappeared. My brother called 911. We left as fast as we could.”

“There was a call for service at about 11:46 at night at the theaters on Town Center Drive,” Lt. Mohrhoff, SCV Sheriff’s Station watch commander, confirmed Monday morning, referring to an incident report filed by responding deputies.

“We received two calls about guys threatening to shoot people,” Mohrhoff said. “They had flashlights, though, no guns. It seems that there was no real crime per se, just a dispute. It’s cleared as a 415, a non-criminal dispute. I have no details beyond that.”

No one was injured or taken into custody, Mohrhoff said.

Since when is a terrorist threat not a crime?????

  3. Yeah I kinda think at least that misdemeanor is necessary in this case.
What kind of person does that? Seriously

  4. If there is not a action done they can’t prosecute them. Just like some one stocking someone .

  5. Just a dispute? Kids are getting arrested for threatening schools out here but 4 men say it in a theater and have flashlights and that’s just a dispute? Wtf!!!! That’s not ok!

  6. No arrest? This kids/pranksters could have been hurt badly for playing this stupid games .

  7. Shooting you up is a terrorist threat….should never be ignored…that’s the problem with our sheriffs ..they don’t take things like this seriously…we had a suspicious box across from our house in front of a school one night that 2 people put there one night and it beeped Every time a car passed it….we called the sheriff office and they just said oh I don’t know what that could be….they said they wouldn’t come to investigate …later the people came and took it away…so much for see something say something. One of these days something will happen and the sheriff and city will get their pants sued off…

  8. Sue Jacobs Sue Jacobs says:

Really making a terrorist threat is not a crime???

  9. Ridiculous, these threats to hurt people should not be shrugged off. Arrests should be made, and the theatre should ban these people from ever returning.

  10. Brian says:

Wait, what am I missing, he threatens to shoot the place up and it’s a dispute? Something is not making sense here, at all.

  11. Arnold Kraft Arnold Kraft says:

Just seem “sometimes”it’s all up to what the officer’s he or she see fit on handling the situation’s. Because basically if a law is broken it should always be handle and filed under it penal code. Not different in other cases. A theorist threat is a theorist threat.

You cannot yell threats in a movie theater! These men should have been arrested and been charged!

    • Wow. Just wow. I can just see the deputies “well, we really do t have anything here”. Too much paper

    • KJ Slo KJ Slo says:

A formal complaint should have been made by some of the attendee’s and filed at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, and the patrons should go on Yelp and rip the theater a nice line or two.

    • KJ Slo KJ Slo says:

I am sick of going to that theater and having the punk kids pull the fire alarm, or gas leaks, or other problems. In the past 2 years we have had to leave the theater for problems, including a rude parent/kids, false fire alarm, gas leak, electrical issue. It stinks. I don’t go there anymore, and travel across town, or go to L.A.

    • Absolutely! Should have charged them. You can’t say bomb in an airport either! The theater manager should have demanded it! They all whimper out and the movie goers had a horrifying day! Redicious!!hope they got a refund st least!

  20. Tina Shamsbod weren’t u guys there that night!? I was at Working that night and didn’t even hear about it

  21. I hope they got arrested and now have to pay for their actions. Unacceptable! People can’t go to a movie without being afraid!

  22. Stephanie Rodriguez Teddy Ayres

  23. This is a terrorist threat. I have no comprehension as to why our Sheriff’s would not arrest them. Maybe they just don’t want to do the paperwork?

  24. Linda Durst Linda Durst says:

Their lucky no one was packing and shot them.

  25. Diana says:

This is ridiculous there were NO arrests. Explain the reason why. This is a CRIME from what the article reads.

  26. Wow! We had been in this same movie at the 4:40 showing. Stupid thugs..

  27. Kerri Spurlin this is what you were talking about yesterday !

  28. Franck C Blackwell III

  29. Irma Blanco Irma Blanco says:

They really need to have better security at this movie theater.
We went to a movie there Saturday night and had to put up with rude high school punks – all girls and 1 guy. Talked through the whole movie & even one of their phones rang!
    Never returning to this theater.

  30. WTF!!! If i yelled fire when there’s no fire, I would be arrested right!!?? WTF is the damn difference!? These mofos need their asses beat! So, if I wanted to tackle them to the ground because I thought people were in eminent danger, I would be arrested, not them?? ??

  31. Always check where the exits are as soon as you get into the theatre, how sad is that!

  32. No one taken into custody???? Seriously!!? The 4 men that made these threats should be behind bars! Any threat like this should’ve taken seriously with harsh punishment! Ughh! This infuriates me!!

  33. I guess it’s good no one with a gun stood up and threatened them!

  34. Amy Bello Amy Bello says:

My Daughters was there with the friends quoted in the article. She said they wore acting so suspicious before they yelled.. she also called 911 why ducking then tuning for the exit..

  35. Doug Hodges Doug Hodges says:

Too bad no one had a conceal carry that could of shot their dumb asses dead.

  36. Sorry but this sounds like an officer who was to lazy to do the report!
    Total BS!

  37. What is wrong with these men? They should be arrested and charged.

  38. Mike Weaver Mike Weaver says:

And the department has failed… there could have been easily been an arrest made.

  39. Kelly Miyake Kelly Miyake says:

Oh my gosh…! Erin Colton-Juodvalkis Lindsay Squibb Sadowski

  40. Cindy Meyer Cindy Meyer says:

Shouldn’t they have been arrested for making terrorist threats?

  41. Brittany Bender Branden Bender good thing we didn’t go…

  42. Helen Hicks Helen Hicks says:

Good old safe SCV . I stay in. Los Angeles. SCV. Sad story now

  43. Jordan Hicks says:

I dont agree with the police officer that “no crime per se occurred”.
When the guy said ‘Everyone needs to get down or get out before I shoot this place up!’ with those words he commited a crime or misdemeanor.

  44. They should be arrested for terrorizing and threatening and their homes should be searched for weapons

  45. That’s weird, we saw Game Night on Sunday and the theater didn’t check out our bags or anything. It seems to me after a threat like that, the night before, the theater would have been more on guard.

  46. El Rey El Rey says:

So yelling I’m going to shoot this place up and get out didn’t incite panick? They’re lucky no one got hurt or trampled. This is why I still believe in the 2nd amendment. People need to learn how to defend themselves from the stupid and violent. What these men did is the equivalent of yelling FIRE!

  47. Roger says:

With all the law enforcement in this town those guys are very lucky that they didn’t get shot right there on the spot.

  48. Roger says:

This is no big deal. No one ever shoots people in a movie theater.

    Oh, wait…

  49. Dan says:

There are two options here: 1) There is something missing from this article, or 2) the cops are not doing their jobs and should be fired immediately. We are paying good money for protection and now these knuckleheads are free – even encouraged – to create more problems. As for Edwards Valencia theater, they are going to lose patrons over this…is Edwards remaining complacent? The manager that night should have demanded arrests.

  50. So Cal Guy says:

Technically, LE could have charged all four of these idiots with numerous assault counts for each person that was in the theatre. However, they chose not to. In criminal and civil law, “assault is a threat of imminent harmful or offensive contact with a person, or a threat to do so. It is distinct from battery, which refers to the actual achievement of such contact”
Not quite sure why the individuals got away with this one with all that’s going on in the world.

  51. D.R. says:

It’s not that deputies don’t take people/threats seriously. The problem is the law. There is no law/consequence for making a threat. Where it is of value is if something happens after that threat and someone witnessed the threat being made/spoken. The law unfortunately protects the perpetrator. If these guys get arrested, just for what they said, an attorney will represent them for having their “freedom of speech” violated and then they get off with that. Plus the law suit with the Sheriff for a few million.

  52. David Benghazi Brayton says:

If anyone sees this happen again. YOU BETTER RUN DOWN WHOEVER YELLED THAT AND BEAT HIM TIL COPS COME. YOU’LL HAVE ABOUT 15_20 MINUTES TO BEAT HIM/THEM.
