[AAUW] – The American Association of University Women-Santa Clarita Valley branch is seeking donations to provide scholarships to its Tech Trek Math, Science, and Technology Camp, a summer camp focused on STEM fields.
We are asking local individuals and businesses to make a difference in our community by assisting in the development of the next generation of scientists, engineers, computer programmers, doctors, dentists, and other professions in the mathematical, scientific and technological fields.
The 2014 Tech Trek Camp program will be held at eight college campuses throughout California. Our participants will attend camp at either UC Santa Barbara or CSU Fresno. They will live on campus and share dorm rooms with other participants and counselors. Credentialed middle school teachers and professional guest presenters – who all possess a high degree of expertise in science, mathematics, and technology — will lead the activities the participants attend.
The campers come from our local junior high schools and must complete a rigorous selection process, including an application, essay and interview. Local branches must raise the funds for each camper’s scholarship.
The AAUW goal is to obtain sponsors for 20 young women from the Santa Clarita Valley for the summer of 2014. Tuition for each participant this year is $900.
Any donation amount is appreciated and all donations qualify as a tax-exempt donation because AAUW Tech Trek is a 501c3 project.
