The city of Santa Clarita’s 2020 plan includes the addition of alternative fuel stations throughout the community to meet growing demand for these facilities. As part of that commitment, the city coordinated with EVgo, a developer of charging solutions for electric car owners, to install a fast-fill electric charging station in the parking lot near the new Marketplace Park, located at 23811 Newhall Ranch Road.
This newest charging station can fully charge an electric vehicle in less than thirty minutes. There are many charging stations located throughout Santa Clarita.
Electric vehicles are less expensive to fuel and maintain than gasoline-powered cars, potentially saving thousands of dollars over the life of the vehicle. The air pollution from electric vehicles is also much lower than gasoline-fueled vehicles. Minimizing air pollution caused by vehicles helps clean up the air in Santa Clarita, which suffers from high levels of ozone pollution during hot, sunny weather.
With added charging stations around the Santa Clarita Valley, electric vehicles are even more convenient. To learn more about “green vehicles,” please visit GreenSantaClarita.com.

Marketplace Park parking lot, or Real Life Church parking lot?
the address is in the press release
Who pays for the electricity these “Fueling Stations” disperse? The owners of the electric vehicles or Santa Clarita citizens who may have no interest in electric vehicles? Owners of electric vehicles continue to get a “free ride” on our roads and freeways by not paying gasoline taxes which support highway construction and maintenance. Let’s hope this isn’t another public funds giveaway to electric vehicle owners, who for the most part, are more than able to pay their fair share of highway infrastructure.
Hi Denny,
This particular station runs on EVgo membership pricing. The pay machine is pictured in the photo above. Many of the stations in and out of Santa Clarita are operated this way. The ones that don’t have a charge passed on to the user are paid for by the property owner, store or retail establishment that provides it for their patrons.
Laura, thanks for your well-informed response to my question.
