[KHTS] Santa Clarita Valley Child & Family Center’s co-founder and retired CEO Liz Seipel was appointed to the Los Angeles County Commission for Children and Families by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich on Tuesday.
As a member of the commission, Siepel’s responsibilities will be centered around improving child safety and welfare, according to a news release by Antonovich’s office.
“I’m really pleased,” Siepel said. “I’ve been retired now a few years, but it’s nice to stay active working for the children and families.”
Some of the responsibilities of commission members include reviewing all programs administered by county departments, monitoring legislation and providing recommendations to department heads and the Board of Supervisors to improve children’s services.
“When i was working for the center, it was on the other side of the table,” she said. “We were contracted to provide services for children and families in Los Angeles County in this area. Now I’ll be more in an advisory capacity… I think it’s going to be exciting to come at it from this side of the table as far as hearing what kind of progress and developments are shaping in the different county departments.”
