The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives, or VIDA, program for young people ages 11-17 is now accepting applications for the SCV Sheriff Station’s next 16-week session starting in February.
Here’s the story from the station’s social media:
We have some questions for SCV parents of children between the ages of 11-17:
1.) Do you feel your child is headed on the wrong path?
2.) Is your child getting in trouble at school?
3.) Is your child having a lot of problems at home?
4.) Are you worried about them getting into criminal activity as they get older?
If you have concerns, we want to help you.
Sheriff’s deputies offer a program through the SCV Sheriff’s Station called VIDA, which stands for Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives.
Yes, the program is a commitment on you and your child’s part, but isn’t his or her future worth it?
The next VIDA 16-week program starts in February and meets on the campus of an elementary school located on Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus.
The cost to parents is only $75 for the 16 weeks. The fee includes uniforms (i.e.; p.e. clothes), lunch on Saturday, counseling, therapy, educational sessions and field trips.
The time commitment involves dropping your children off at the VIDA site on one weekday after school and on Saturdays.
There is also one weeknight that parents attend along with their child or children for group counseling.
We want to teach kids good problem-solving skills and help them see how they can make good choices in life.
If you’re interested in the program, please contact Deputy Tim Ferrone at 661-510-0881. He can provide additional details and explain how to apply.
