Arts for Santa Clarita, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, hosted the inaugural Santa Clarita Arts Run last April. Over 300 hundred registrants participated in the marathon and over 20 art groups performed along the course of the run.
This year Arts for Santa Clarita is expecting over 500 participants and over 30 arts groups in attendance. The Run will also include a Kids’ Dash which is recommended for kids over the age of 3 and will include art obstacles along the half kilometer kids’ course. Proceeds from the run will benefit Arts for Santa Clarita.
The Arts for Santa Clarita mission is to enrich the Santa Clarita community through the development and facilitation of arts programing, facilities, education, support, and advocacy. Its first priority is to support the creation of a local Arts and Cultural Center. A place where artists can have shared studio space, practice rooms, performance space and exhibition space– with facilities that support all mediums of art.
Arts for Santa Clarita was formed in 2017 by local arts leaders to unite our arts community and provide stronger support for the arts in Santa Clarita. Its founders saw a need for a united voice that would result from the coordination and alliance of our many non-profit arts organizations, artists and art lovers. Arts for Santa Clarita serves as a hub to bring the local arts community together. It also advocates for more arts support from the City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County. Additionally, it provides support, networking and advocacy services for local artists and art organizations.
The board is made up of local Arts Advocates: Sara Brown (iLead Schools), Stephanie O’Connor (Forge Ahead Arts), Alex Bozman (CalArts Alumni Association), Lisha Yakub Sevanian (Calgrove Media ), and David Stears (Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival).
