The Hart School District’s Career Visions program will host its fifth annual Program Information Night on Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sequoia Charter School. The mission of the Career Visions program is to provide workforce preparation services to students with specific barriers to employment, including work training placement and direct hire opportunities to those receiving special education services actively enrolled in the district.
The program continued to post impressive results in the 2015-2016 school year, having reported delivery of workforce preparation services to more than 1,200 special needs students.
“Transition services are still a Federal mandate for all special education students,” said Kevin Sarkissian, Career Visions Program Supervisor. “We recognize that parents have questions regarding the workforce preparation component of transition, and feel that this information night offers families a great forum in which to network and share ideas while allowing us to reinforce the importance of shared ownership in the work experience process.”
Career Visions services are provided by a team of career transition advisors whose focus is to assist this population in exploring different career pathways while in high school. The Career Visions team also plays an integral role in workforce preparation and community job placement leading to successful, long-term employment outcomes.
Space for this event is limited. Please RSVP by Friday, August 19, to Career Transition Advisor Tracey Pedroza at 661.294.1188 ext. 419, or send email to tpedroza@hartdistrict.org. Light refreshments will be served. Full details at www.cvworks.org. Sequoia Charter School is located at 21445 Centre Pointe Parkway.
