Los Angeles County 5th District Supervisor Kathryn Barger has named Jeff Ford to serve on the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency, her office said Monday.
“Jeff’s knowledge and experience will be an invaluable asset to the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency and its dedicated group of experts,” Barger said. “He is in tune with local water issues and shares my commitment to ensuring the delivery of quality and affordable water to the Santa Clarita Valley.”
Ford brings decades of water district and local government experience to the position. A resident of the Santa Clarita Valley, he has worked for the Castaic Lake Water Agency, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the South Coast Air Quality Management District, and the cities of Los Angeles and Simi Valley.
Ford currently serves as a senior scientist at Kennedy/Jenks Consultants, which he will vacate upon his appointment to the SCV Water Agency.
The County Board of Supervisors will vote on Ford’s appointment at their meeting on September 24. The next SCV Water Board meeting will be held on October 1.
The county seat on the SCV Water Board expires at the end of 2023 and was recently vacated by Dante Acosta when he accepted another position out of state.

Excellent choice! Jeff will do a great job representing both the County and all SCV residents.
Wow! What a stirring and appropriate huzzah from one of the few, the connected, and of the same folks who perpetrated the complete takeover of the licensed and legal water districts and water companies in the SCV. Not to mention the shenanigans by the California State Assembly’s support of said takeover.
This rant could go on, with much more detail regarding the misbehavior and flouting of laws but for one thing: the drones who live in SClarita don’t know, don’t care, don’t vote and just can’t be bothered.
As well you know Dan.
I don’t know Jeff Ford from Adam; he might be an honest and wonderful guy with tremendous knowledge about water management and the technology necessary to serve SCVWater’s clients – through the monopoly that absolutely rules this valley.
But if he is, he’s still only one person.
And he’s not the only person in this valley who knows how state, county, and municipal agencies love to run things.
