1986 - COC board votes to allow Argentine cliff swallows to nest forever on sides of buildings [story]

[CBE] – The California State Board of Equalization updated its online list of the Top 500 sales and use tax delinquencies, which total $484.4 million in taxes for the third quarter of 2014. Also, an interactive map displays location, account name, and amount owed by delinquent taxpayers.

Legislation enacted in 2011 (AB 1424, Perea) expanded the former Top 250 list to 500 and also required the BOE to provide confidential information to participating state agencies that oversee taxpayers’ occupational, professional, and driver licenses. In addition, it provided for delinquent taxpayers to be precluded from contracting with the state.

Since the inception of this program in 2007, the BOE has received $12.2 million from 145 qualifying taxpayers who came forward to pay their debts; 120 are making installment payments and 25 have paid their debt in full.

California law requires the BOE to post this information every quarter and to remove amounts that are being addressed through payment arrangement, bankruptcy, litigation, or appeal. Taxpayers are notified 30 days before their information is posted, allowing them time to pay.

Of the total $484.4 million owed on the latest list, $100.5 million are jointly owed liabilities. This means individuals associated with a corporation, partnership, limited partnership, limited liability partnership, or limited liability company might be personally responsible for delinquent taxes.

The following 44 taxpayers were added to this quarter’s list, and owe a combined $32.4 million.

Taxpayers on the Top 500 list may contact the BOE at 1-916-445-5167 to resolve their accounts and make payment agreements. Taxpayers will have their names removed from this list if they pay the tax liability in full, enter into and comply with an installment agreement, or resolve the tax liability. The Franchise Tax Board’s Top 500 list is published biannually on FTB’s website at ftb.ca.gov.

  1. Fight the power Amerci! I love your pizza lol

  2. Wow! I wonder if that’s leftover from the prior owner who just walked out and locked doors. Someone else took over a few mo ago. Bummer!

  3. Carina Rice Carina Rice says:

How does the government let them continue in business with a debt that big?

  11. Yes, pay the state or get locked in a cage, and assaulted if you resist. So that we can pay for things that people would pay for directly anyway. Lesson here people: if you make good pizza, you owe the mafia their dues!

  12. Jeff Matus Jeff Matus says:

Gee…wonder how much longer it will be, before these companies just default due to the excessive taxes that California loves.

  13. I think I ate there before but I don’t remember

  14. California is sucking the life out of small businesses here in the state. Sad because small businesses provide the majority of jobs.

  15. California needs to find a way to decrease the taxes for small business… I know they get taxed an arm and a leg!!! I feel bad for any of the small business owners…:

  16. Way to put a local hometown business out there SCV News :/ We are in the middle of a recession! I am sure the company owners are doing everything in their power to pay off their debt and stay a float at the same time. Just like many small businesses all over the country! Splashing their financial struggles online for everyone in our community to see does nothing but hurt the reputation of Ameci’s Pizza! Instead of putting out the negative why not show support and love during this difficult time!

  17. Ps… The story is inaccurate it is $442,899.13 NOT MILLION!!!!

  18. Adam Rainen Adam Rainen says:

I only feel remorse for the new owners who have to pick up where the previous owner left off. The old one did some shady stuff to owe $442,899.

  19. Adam Rainen Adam Rainen says:

And the article states bussiness, in total of all of them, owe 440 million. That’s why they list the businesses that haven’t payed there dues.

  20. Adam Rainen Adam Rainen says:

The fact that it’s in the top 30 of ALL of California is crazy. I knew he was in debt but I didn’t know how much the previous owner owed.

  21. Good for them. I may run up there for pasta and celebrate their tax revolt in the highest taxed state in the United States.

  22. They got my support. I’ll drive from castaic just to get a pizza there.

  23. Cruz Cruz says:

This is one of my favorite pizza places in town

  24. Cruz Cruz says:

This is one of my favorite pizza places in town

  25. If it’s truly about sales tax, then there’s the possibility of sales tax being collected from their customers but not being paid to the state. If that’s the case, I’d want to know so I could take that into consideration where I keep my money in SCV small businesses.
