Canyon Country Community Center Conceptual Master Plan was approved by Santa Clarita City Council Tuesday evening.

The center is planned to be a 20,000-square-foot building with parking.

The plan was presented to the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission on May 5, who supported the project but requested the addition of a half-court basketball court. The commission also had some concerns about safety and design issues.

The approval of the Conceptual Master Plan “will allow staff to continue pursuing this vision by working with the adjacent property owners, and it will be the basis for the project description for the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review and other documents as the project moves forward,” according to the agenda report.

  1. Where is the pedestrian crossing over Sierra Hwy and Golden Valley that was promised to protect the children going and coming from Golden Valley High School?? City counsel let’s worry about safety first!!!

  2. Glad to see this project underway. That area could really benefit from some beautification and well-planned public spaces.
