[KHTS] – The driver of a white Saturn was hospitalized Wednesday after crashing into the Jo Anne Darcy Canyon Country Library, causing damage to the building but leaving library patrons uninjured.
A children’s storytime was taking place inside the library’s community room when the car crashed into the window at 10:05 a.m., but no one inside was injured, city officials said.
“The community room is closed for (Wednesday), but the library is open and operating today,” said Jessica Jackson, a city spokeswoman. “(The Santa Clarita Department of) Building and Safety is assessing everything, and I know they are going to be boarding up the window. As soon as they get clearance, we’ll get it reopened.”
City officials did not give a specific timeframe for obtaining the necessary clearance to reopen the room.
The collision occurred after the driver’s foot reportedly slipped off the brake and pushed on the accelerator, a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station official said.
Los Angeles County Fire Department officials responded and transported the driver to a local hospital, fire officials said.
The driver’s identity is not being released at this time, and fire officials were unable to confirm the extent of the driver’s injuries.
There was minor damage to the building, which mostly included broken glass from the plate glass window where the crash occurred.

Luckily no ones was in there
I wonder what the treatment is for a fractured ego. That’s gotta hurt.
Good thing you were at the new hall one Dustin Bulmer!!
Another example of the Santa Clarita City Council to busy naming everything on town after themselves instead of installing a stop light at Bouquet and Festividad Drive. We have been waiting since 1969. How many seniors have to be killed in that intersection?
Omg
Throw the book at her!
Throw the book at her!
Candle Wax, this you?
Maybe when they remodeled they should of put the storytime place towards the back of the library instead of in the front by the parking lot.
Incredible! who was driving, a toddler?

“SLIPPED” off the brake and on to the accelerator (hard enough to go up a curb and into a window). Tell it like it is SCVTV = confused driver, who was unable to decipher between the brake and the gas, rams into CC library!
