Tickets are now on sale for a variety of music, theater and comedy shows taking place during May at The Main, located at 24266 Main Street in Old Town Newhall 91321.
Adult beverages will also be available for purchase at select shows, in addition to concessions.
Comedy Mashup will be back at The MAIN on Friday, May 3 at 8:00 p.m. This show features a group of working comedians and improvisers from all over Los Angeles that comes together once a month to put on a show that is half stand-up comedy and half improv.
Headlining this month’s show is Jeremy Scippio, who has appeared on Funny or Die, Hulu and has a new album on Spotify, “Happens to the Best of Us.” Also performing is Jay Light, from Comedy Central’s “Roast Battle,” and hosting is Nolan Culver, as seen in ABC’s “American Housewife,” as well as at The Pasadena Ice house and The Hollywood Improv. Tickets are $10 presale and $15 on the day of the show.
The Society Comedy Troupe is bringing a hilarious and energetic team improv show to The MAIN. Similar to the TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” the performers ask for audience participation while creating improvised music, comedy and scenes. They are getting nerdy this month with a special ”May the Fourth Be With You” Star Wars themed show! The show is Saturday, May 4 at 8:00 p.m., and is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $15.
This month, The MAIN will be home to Cavort Theater and its production of “The Universe (101).” A Quantum Clown and a Victorian Psychic endanger the fabric of reality and explain the cosmos in simple Lemon’s terms. This hilarious Hollywood Fringe show combines magic, mentalism and lemons in an attempt to put the universe back in order.
This original show was chosen for the 2018 Pick of the Fringe award and has wowed audiences and critics alike. Performances occur Fridays, May 10 and 17 at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays, May 11 and 18 at 8:00 p.m., and Sundays, May 12 and 19 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $15.
Note by Note is a free musical night delighting audiences with a variety of genres. Bands, duos and soloists will perform a wide range of styles, including rock, folk, Celtic, Americana, blues, jazz, country, experimental, western and more! The show is Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m., and is free to attend.
The Sidecar Music Series is going strong this month, featuring students and bands from School of Rock Santa Clarita. These local, aspiring musicians have been working all session long to put the finishing touches on an awesome performance, including the music of Black Sabbath and selections from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” soundtrack. The concert is Friday, May 24 at 8:00 p.m. and tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors.
“Soundcheck” is SCVTV’s newest music series that provides a platform for young musicians from the Santa Clarita Valley to show off their musical prowess through the performance of original songs. Performing at the next concert are Sleepy Valley, who plays alternative punk and rock, as well as singer-songwriter Sabina Arias. The show is Saturday, May 25 at 8:00 p.m. and tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for students with I.D.
Rounding out the month is Harry Potter and the Quizner of Azkaban: Trivia Night on Thursday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. Do you think you have what it takes to be the Hermione of our trivia night? Or will your knowledge prove to be more like that of a troll? Put on your house colors, Accio your trivia team and head over to The MAIN for a night of libations and examination. Trivia Night is free to attend and is appropriate for witches, wizards and muggles aged 13 and older.
