[KHTS]- Los Angeles County Department of Coroner officials have identified the woman killed in a traffic collision on Soledad Canyon Road Saturday night but are working to confirm the identification and notify the next of kin, officials said Monday.

The woman is described as being in her 30’s and of middle eastern descent, according to Public Information Officer for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department, Lt. Ed Winter.fatal091215
The driver, a man in his 60’s is recovering at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, said Sgt. Richard Cohen with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Division.

It has not been determined if the cause of the crash is DUI-related, Cohen said.

Around 8:50 p.m. Saturday, emergency responders received a report of a solo-vehicle roll-over on Soledad Canyon Road near Rue Entree in Santa Clarita, said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Michael Pittman.

Two people were trapped in a red Hyundai Sonata, which had crashed into a tree, said Sgt. Brian Allen with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

No other vehicles were involved.

No one witnessed the crash, said Sgt. Richard Cohen with the SCV Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Division.

A female, believed to be about 35 years old and the passenger in the car, died at the scene and a man, believed to be the driver and in his 60’s, was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with possibly critical injuries, Allen said.

All lanes of Soledad Canyon Road have been reopened after all westbound lanes were shut down due to the collision Saturday night, Allen said.

“We’re investigating possible driving under the influence and we’re also trying to find out the cause of why the car lost control in such a manner,” Cohen said.

    • Really poorly written. I just rewrote the story on how I interpreted it. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has identified the passenger killed in a car accident on Soledad Canyon Saturday night but the name won’t be released until next of kin is notified.

According to authorities, the victim is described as a Middle Eastern woman in her 30s. She died at the scene.

The driver, a man in his 60s, is recovering at Henry Mayo.

Emergency responders were called to a solo-vehicle rollover crash before 9 p.m. Saturday when a red Hyundai Sonata hit a tree.

It is unclear if drugs or alcohol were a factor. The investigation is ongoing.

These fast drivers are getting away with way too much, need to crack down on these loons.

  13. Shirley says:

I heard the sirens, not the crash, I live right down the street, like 2 blocks. People need to slow down. I see speeders on a daily basis, with traffic and without. I believe both parties passed.
